Media Temple is having some issues this morning. I noticed this because I couldn't access my site or mail server for a bit. When I decided to open a support ticket, I was greeted with a message explaining that there is an issue with a couple of routers, resulting in loss of connectivity for some users, and that it'll fixed as soon as possible. In other words, they discovered the issue before I told them, posted a message to tell me about it, and went to work.
They also created an RSS feed for the message. As soon as anything changes, they'll let me know.
This is how things should be done.
